With the release of their full-length album ‘A Life to Come Renewed’, New Jersey faith-driven alt/rock trio The Finite Beings hit the music scene in a new way. Taking some of the most impactful parts of the classic genre of music and mixing that familiar sound with their unique conscious style, The Finite Beings have created something truly special to offer today’s music scene.

Following the launch of their album came the pandemic that put all live shows on hold and forced many musicians to look inward for inspiration. Lead singer and current drummer, Michael Nicholas, found a deep connection to the idea that we will all get through this and find a better day ahead if we can remember to reconnect and not allow fear to tell us our truths. The song that came out of this deep state is the band's single The Virus.

Next up was their hauntingly beautiful single ‘The Shade’. A rock song that captured elements found in Alice In Chains and other fearless bands of the 90s era.

Now,  The Finite Beings are focused on sharing their latest single ‘Hope Is Sleeping In Grace’s Arms’, a song about resting in God’s peace, which surpasses whatever hardship, challenge, or trial that this life can throw at you.

With Lush addicting guitar work and thunderous bass provided by Donny DePaola and Hunter Kino, the band's edgy, authentic, and at times, deeply vulnerable approach to songwriting, captures the aesthetic of well-known alternative rock anthems.

All three singles are now live and can be streamed on most major streaming services.

My name is Mike Nicholas and I am a songwriter and vocalist in The Finite Beings. I also play drums, rhythm guitar and am a published author. I have been writing songs and making music since the age of 13. I joined my first band, Stillhaven, at the age of 19, in which I played drums and wrote lyrics. After several years of writing and playing shows around the tri-state area, we disbanded in 2006.

I then decided to move to Florida and get my college degree at Full Sail University in recording arts. After graduating, I hit the biggest challenge I would face at this point in my life. I was diagnosed with schizophrenia. It would take me a couple of years to fully overcome the illness and I’m happy to say that I no longer suffer from it. I am fully recovered.

However, after experiencing all this it left me with a fascination of the mind. It inspired me so much that I wrote a book about my experiences titled, Imaginary Things (Inside the mind of a Schizophrenic), which was published and released in 2016.

When it comes to my songwriting in The Finite Beings I like to go creative and dig deep. All while being genuine to who I am. I combine my fascination with the mind, my faith, and my perception of the world as I experience it. This creates a unique atmosphere that oftentimes seems dark or strange. However, It also leaves a light at the end of the tunnel to show the hope that I have in this life and in the next.

I’m thankful to have my bandmates, Donny and Hunter to help me bring my ideas to life. We are always pushing each other to make the best song possible, as well as continuing to grow as artists. I find our chemistry evolving with each new track we work on and I’m excited to release our newest single, The Shade.

HUNTER KINO

Hi. My name is Hunter Kino. I’m a 22 year old music producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and recording/mixing engineer from New Jersey. Growing up, I was always in bands and around music. Currently, I work primarily in the genres of Pop and Rock. I specialize in guitar but I also play piano/synths, drums, and can passably sing. I’ve studied the trends in music and have spent countless hours songwriting, sound designing, producing, recording, and mixing. I have also worked at multiple studios/labels in NYC and have been mentored by a few top producers and songwriters.

In The Finite Beings, my role is producer, recording engineer, guitarist, and band member. I just recently joined the team. Both Mike (Singer) and Donny (Guitarist) have been putting out music for a while before I joined. I’m currently producing a lot of Pop solo artists/bands so I’m bringing Pop techniques to Hard Rock bands to keep their sound “modern”, giving them the ability to compete with current pop music while also maintaining their heavy roots.

My music creation process revolves around the vocals no matter the genre. I always make sure they take center stage and drive the song while the production reinforces the emotion of the lyrics and vocal performance. Working with Mike is easy. He’s a lyrical mastermind. He always has a clear vision of what he wants to say and knows his place within the music. Donny takes inspiration from the 60’s/70’s. He plays guitar a certain way that gives our music a timeless depth. I would say I add both the roaring raw guitar riffs and Pop production tricks to give the music a lot of flavor. I work closely with them both on sculpting their vision, getting it out into the DAW, and always pushing them to the edge of their limits.

The first song (“The Virus”) that we started working on together, I believe captures everything they’re about and I hope our new upcoming single, “The Shade” continues telling the story of The Finite Beings.

DONNY DEPAOLA

My name is Donny DePaola. I’m 30 years old. I love songwriting, singing, and playing the guitar, bass, and piano. I also enjoy composing, producing, engineering, editing, and arranging. I first started as an actor and singer, doing many musicals in middle and high school. During high school, I started learning guitar and songwriting from my Father. I went to college for Music Education and Performance. Currently, I teach high school music in Passaic.

In The Finite Beings, my role is very flexible. Sometimes I’m just adding some extra features to an already written song, like a guitar solo. Most of the time I’m coming up with the main riff or chords that start the song. Then Mike will add lyrics and melody, while Hunter may add his own riff and create a chorus of the bridge.

I’m also currently working on my own solo projects. This past year I released an Elliott Smith cover album called Rhythmic Quietude. This year I’m planning to release an original 4 song EP. After that, I’d love to return to cover albums.

The new Finite Beings’ songs are really exciting. I’m really excited to see what the future holds for us. Mike and Hunter are great bandmates. We are always pushing each other to create the best song possible.
